JOEEL (Journal of English Education and Literature) uses a double-blind peer-review process. This ensures quality, originality, and academic integrity for all published manuscripts. Authors’ and reviewers’ identities are kept confidential during the review.
Review Stages
Initial Screening (1–2 weeks) After submission, the editorial team first checks if the manuscript fits the journal’s scope. The team also verifies compliance with author guidelines and basic academic standards. The manuscript is checked for similarity using iThenticate. The maximum similarity index allowed is 20%. Manuscripts that fail may be rejected or returned for revision before peer review.
First Round of Review (3–4 weeks) Manuscripts that pass initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers. These reviewers have relevant expertise. Reviewers assess the manuscript for originality, methodological rigor, and clarity. They also evaluate its contribution and relevance to the journal. The decision at this stage may include: Accept with minor revisions, Revise and resubmit (major/minor revisions), or Reject
Revision by Authors (1–3 weeks) Authors must revise their manuscripts in response to reviewer feedback. They should submit the revised version and a response to reviewers.
Second Round of Review (2–3 weeks) The revised manuscript is sent back to reviewers or checked by editors. They ensure all comments are addressed. More revisions may be requested if needed.
Final Decision (1 week) The Editor-in-Chief reviews the reviewers’ recommendations and makes the final decision. The decision may be: Accept, Accept with minor revisions, or Reject
Copyediting and Publication (2–3 weeks) Accepted manuscripts go through copyediting, proofreading, layout, and final checks before publishing.
Estimated Timeline
The overall review and publication process typically takes 8–12 weeks from initial submission to publication, depending on the responsiveness of authors and reviewers.
JOEEL is committed to a fair, timely, and rigorous review. Our goal is to support the publication of high-quality scholarly work.
